Newmarket Medical Practice opened at its present site in the spring of 2001. The partners had previously practiced in Bridge Street Surgery where there had been a practice for over 150 years. We have an open list and accept patients living up to nine miles from the surgery. The doctors work as a partnership and you may usually consult the doctor of your choice.

Changes can be seen in all aspects of the NHS in order to meet current demands.Newmarket Medical Practice is constantly assessing the needs of the local population and evaluating the services it offers. Therefore you may find that services change from time to time to our regular newsletters.

Newmarket Medical Practice has many clinics for different areas of health including General nursing clinic, phlebotomy, anticoagulant monitoring, community nursing service, maternity. In addition, specialised clinics are in operation: Minor operations, family planning, and well person screening.

Hearing Impairment:

The surgery provide a hearing loop system at the main reception desk. We also have a portable hearing loop which can be used in any part of the surgery to assist patients during consultations. We operate a patient call screen in our waiting room as a visual aid for our patients.

Patients can now order their repeat prescription and book a number of appointments online. We have introduced a text messaging service to remind patients of their appointment date and time. We hope to expand this service in the future to assist out hearing impaired patients.

Patients that have hearing aids can now go to Specsavers, Mercer Row, to recieve new replacement hearing aid batteries. Patients  will require a hospital discharge letter. The patient will need to contact the hospital that provided the hearing aid to get this letter so Specsavers can continue the service.
